Confession

Ok, I confess---I love reality TV shows. Well...at least SOME reality TV shows. I don't really watch very much TV and, when I do, it tends to be HGTV, The History Channel (love those American Pickers and Pawn Stars!!) or the Science Channel (Through the Wormhole is awesome!!). But the one show that I am totally addicted to (and I'm so excited---it starts tomorrow!!) is SURVIVOR!!! I NEVER get tired of it!! To me, it's like a sociology lesson. A group of people all start out determined to be ruthless and just play to win that million bucks. But as time goes on, they form relationships, whether they want to or not and it gets harder and harder for them to base their decisions strictly on smart game-play. It's hard to stab someone in the back when they have "had your back" for awhile. My son gets so frustrated because he is SURE he could play the game ruthlessly. I am quite sure that if he were in that situation he would find out it ain't so easy. I guess what this all means to me is that there is hope for the human race. That we can talk a good game but, when we are put in a postion of living and working with people for a period of time, we create bonds and we find it very hard to think with our heads and not our hearts. And I think that's a GOOD thing!!

Hi Robin,

Thanks so much for your heartfelt comment on my post yesterday! What you said is just so right on... And, yes, my life is filled with supportive people and those little thoughts I get are just that (usually hormonally triggered if you know what I mean) - little thoughts. And then they are gone again. Life it good and creative and that's how I love it!!

As to reality shows I have to admit that I don't like them very much - if I watch TV, I like someone to write a good script... :) Even all the talent shows have too much hoopla for me to enjoy them.

One year, though, the son of a friend's best friend (make sense, right?) was on survivor and I think was the winner for that season. Now that got all of us watching a bit...

Have fun!! Silke

Hmmm....leave off the million dollars and the back stabbing and you've got the art tribe. Hey if we have a monetary prize do you think we'd all behave differently? Good thoughts here Robin!

I too like some reality shows, I'm a TV junkie. I like Big Brother which is just ending tonight and Amazing Race plus American Idol.I used to watch Survivor, but quit when they had such contestants such as Russell; can't stand him and his ilk.

Hey Robin,
We are big Survivor fans here too. Mostly because of my husband. He loves that show. A few years back I had a big Survivor birthday party for him. It was so fun. We split into 4 tribes and played all these crazy games.

I sent you a couple of emails the other day. I'm wondering if you ot them. Let me know.

Besides a little sports, the only show I watch is Parenthood. It too, is a study of human interaction, but a scripted drama of three generations living in one town and facing modern day challenges.

Audrey, I really love Amazing Race too!! I would love to be on it but there would too many obstacles to overcome---like bungee jumping!! I think I would rather jump out of an airplane!!!
Glenn, being the only female in the family I actually see plenty of sports too---in fact saw some of the Mariners/Yankees game tonight!!! One of the best days of my sons life was when he got Ichiro's autograph!!

My son tapes Amazing Race every season and we watch it together, each picking a favorite team in the beginning and then seeing what happens. Love love love seeing all the different parts of the world!

Lois H's granddaughter was on Big Brother one time, but that's the only reason I watched that.

That's neat that your son tapes AMazing Race to watch together April! I think that's one of the reasons I have enjoyed it so much---all 3 of us like to watch it! I wish I had known about Lois H's granddaughter!

We love Survivor! We started watching it after we heard one of our church goers grandson was on it- he was the bible lover on the first show I think. Love the Amazing race too.

Yes, still having camera problems April! The last 2 times it went back to normal on it's own. I will have to take it somewhere soon.
And Marge, it's nice to know another Survivor fan!! I'm the only one in my family who really likes it!!
